Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke’s University Health Network has implemented Gleamer AI’s BoneView technology across all of its hospital emergency departments and walk-in urgent care centers, becoming the first in the region to do so.

The AI-powered application assists clinicians in identifying bone trauma, including fractures, dislocations and lesions. Clinical studies show the technology reduces missed fractures by up to 30%. The health system began piloting the software last year and completed the rollout with its Grand View campus in Sellersville, according to a Sept. 15 news release.

BoneView uses deep learning algorithms to highlight areas of concern on an image, providing emergency clinicians with preliminary interpretations before radiologist review.

St. Luke’s has 16 campuses, more than 350 outpatient locations and is currently engaged in over 100 AI projects, one-third of which have been fully integrated into clinical workflows, according to the release.
