Phylicia Cross, MPH is a Corporate Manager of Provider Network Communications at AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in managed care that operates in 12 states and the District of Columbia serving approximately 5 million Medicaid, Medicare, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Health Insurance Marketplace members.

In her current role at AmeriHealth Caritas, she leads enterprise communication strategy for provider initiatives and supports local health plan communications in the District of Columbia, Delaware, and New Hampshire markets. Additionally, she manages communication development to support provider education and training, consults and coordinates with senior leadership to roll-out provider communication campaigns to promote the adoption of best practices to ensure consistent messaging across each health plan, and collaborates with leadership to curate new market communication tactics to support network building goals for new health plans.

In her previous role, she served as the Health Equity Program Lead where she facilitated the development, implementation, and monitoring of health equity initiatives with the goal of eliminating health disparities for key populations and advancing the quality of care provided to health plan members in the District of Columbia market. Some of her key accomplishments in this role include leading the development of her organization’s first of its kind sexual orientation and gender identity enterprise data collection and training program, the launch of the Best Practice Lab that focused on creating an innovative data visualization tool to better understand maternal health outcomes, and leading the Washington, DC market through three successful Multicultural Health Care distinctions (now referred to as Health Equity Accreditation) from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

She is a proud alumnus of Temple University and West Chester University of Pennsylvania where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Healthcare Administration/Management, respectively. Her dedication to professional development for people of color in the healthcare industry is evident through her almost decade long support and leadership in the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE). She currently serves as the President of the Washington, DC chapter of NAHSE, and previously held the offices of Treasurer (2017-2019) and Secretary (2019-2021).

Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys candle making, traveling, playing a friendly round of golf, and is an avid Peloton rider.
