HHS aims to accelerate healthcare AI adoption | Health IT

The Trump administration wants to unleash AI in its quest to “Make America Healthy Again.”

HHS is asking for public input on how the technology can be more quickly deployed and adopted in clinical care settings.

“Artificial intelligence will be a transformative force for good across America,” HHS Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neill stated in a Dec. 19 news release. “We want to hear from you. Our efforts to accelerate AI adoption must be guided by the real needs and experiences of those developing these tools and delivering care.”

HHS hopes to learn how regulations can evolve to spur AI innovation while preserving patient safety, reimbrusement can be simplified to encourage the use of the technology, and investments in research and development can elevate AI for complex and high-acuity clinical cases.
