The Health Sector Coordinating Council Cybersecurity Working Group, a public-private partnership comprising hundreds of entities such as hospitals and health systems, has released a toolkit to help providers assess and mitigate cybersecurity risks.
The Sector Mapping and Risk Toolkit includes 17 workflow maps and usage guidelines to help organizations identify critical services that are vulnerable to cyberattacks. It encourages the prioritization of high-risk functions and the development of continuity plans, according to an Oct. 7 news release.
The SMART initiative, which led to the toolkit’s creation, launched in April 2024 in response to the February cyberattack on Change Healthcare. The American Hospital Association contributed to the project’s development.
