Healthcare organizations across Louisiana have launched MyChart Central statewide, a new Epic feature that gives patients a single, secure way to access their medical records.
Epic announced the statewide launch Oct. 9.
Here are five things to know:
The launch provides a unified view and single sign-in across all participating organizations. Participating health systems include Baton Rouge, La.-based Baton Rouge General; Baton Rouge-based Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System; Lake Charles, La.-based Lake Charles Memorial Health System; New Orleans-based LCMC Health; Hammond, La.-based North Oaks Health System; New Orleans-based Ochsner Health; Covington, La.-based St. Tammany Parish Hospital; Houma, La.-based Terrebonne General Health System; and Baton Rouge-based Woman’s Hospital.
The coordinated activation allows patients to use one MyChart login across multiple hospitals, clinics and parishes. Features include password-free sign-in using passkeys or biometrics, synced profile updates across participating organizations and simplified sharing of medical information with health apps.
More than 2.5 million people in Louisiana currently use MyChart to manage care, access test results, schedule appointments, message providers and more. MyChart Central simplifies that experience with a single login and unified view across systems, according to an Oct. 9 news release from Epic.
Louisiana’s launch follows an initial citywide activation of MyChart Central in Madison, Wis.
Later this year, the capability is expected to expand nationwide, allowing patients across the U.S. to connect MyChart accounts through a single Epic ID.
