Oracle Health has signed a $218 million deal with the state of New York to build an EHR for its 24 psychiatric hospitals and over 300 outpatient programs.

The New York State Office of Mental Health now uses multiple EHRs, with some more than 20 years old. The Oracle Health EHR is expected to take about 29 months to implement and will facilitate about 12,000 users across inpatient psychiatric facilities, clinics, day programs, residential services and community- and corrections-based treatment.

“Mental health is often a long-term journey — one that requires deep understanding and continuity of care — and it is critical for clinicians to have a comprehensive view of a patient’s health history and treatment path,” stated Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Health and Life Sciences, in a Sept. 19 news release from the state of New York.
