Telehealth has become one of the most powerful tools for reimagining healthcare, expanding access, improving outcomes, and strengthening the connection between patients and providers.
The American Heart Association (Association) is working to advance telehealth through a range of initiatives designed to connect professionals with evidence-based education and resources. Together, the American Heart Association Center for Telehealth, the American Heart Association Professional Education Hub, the American Heart Association Podcast Network, and its Center for Telehealth professional community on LinkedIn, provide multiple entry points for healthcare professionals to engage and learn, all with the shared goal of ensuring that telehealth continues to evolve in ways that benefit patients and empower providers.
This Telehealth Awareness Week, September 14-20, the Association invites professionals to explore ways to advance care by leveraging these opportunities:
Discover resources from the American Heart Association Center for Telehealth
Advance your skills through the Professional Education Hub
Gain insights from leaders on the American Heart Association Podcast Network
Connect with peers and stay informed on LinkedIn
Through the American Heart Association Center for Telehealth, the Association brings together its strengths in research, standardization, policy, professional education, certification, and quality improvement programs, striving to ensure telehealth solutions are widely adopted and thoughtfully applied in ways that elevate the standard of care. By leveraging their scientific leadership and strategic partnerships, the Association provides healthcare professionals with the tools and knowledge needed to integrate telehealth effectively and sustainably.
A key part of the Association’s mission is education. The American Heart Association Professional Education Hub for digital learning and continuing education (CE), was designed to meet the evolving needs of healthcare professionals, offering diverse eLearning content to strengthen expertise with opportunities to earn CE credits. Whether through on-demand courses or certification programs, this platform provides clinicians with evidence-based, expert-led resources to help them deliver the highest quality care.
“The best care starts with the best education. The Professional Education Hub reflects our commitment to supporting healthcare teams as they adapt to new technologies, develop new competencies and practices while maintaining a focus on what matters most, improving patient outcomes,” said Lee H. Schwamm, M.D., FAHA, Chairperson, American Heart Association Center for Telehealth Advisory Committee; senior vice president and chief digital health officer of Yale New Haven Health; and associate dean of digital strategy and transformation at Yale School of Medicine.
Extending beyond formal coursework, the Association is looking to create spaces where clinicians can learn from one another and share experiences. The American Heart Association Podcast Network Center for Telehealth channel connects healthcare professionals across organizations, academic institutions, and clinical practices, bringing forward voices that are shaping the future of care. Through engaging conversations with telehealth leaders and innovators, listeners gain practical insights and forward-looking perspectives that can inform their own approaches to care. This sense of connection is also the Association’s aim for the Center for Telehealth LinkedIn page.
“As telehealth continues to transform the delivery of care, the American Heart Association remains dedicated to equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and connections needed to lead that change. By engaging with the Association’s resources, from continuing education and professional communities to thought leadership and research, clinicians can help shape a future where telehealth is seamlessly integrated into practice, improving access, strengthening relationships, and ultimately advancing outcomes for the patients who need it most,” Schwamm said.
