Oracle has submitted permits to prepare for the construction of an estimated $2 billion campus in Nashville, Tenn., the Nashville Business Journal reported.

Larry Ellison, the company’s co-founder, chair and chief technology officer, said in 2024 that Oracle would move its headquarters from Austin, Texas, to Nashville, to be located amid a healthcare hub. Oracle bought EHR vendor Cerner in 2022 for $28.4 billion before renaming it Oracle Health.

The software giant has already spent $379 million since 2021 (when it secured $240 million in state and local government incentives) to prep the 80-acre riverfront campus in Nashville, with an original cost of $1.35 billion expected to rise to $2 billion, according to the Sept. 15 article. Construction has yet to begin, but Oracle originally said the facility would open in 2031 and provide 8,500 jobs.

The company most recently applied for sewer, water and grading permits to ready the property, the Business Journal reported.
