Since her appointment as Executive Director, Dr. Watson and her team worked with both Boards, and various local and federal policymakers, to promulgate new laws and to launch several new initiatives, including telemedicine and cosmetic/medspa guidelines. Under her leadership, the Boards published two reports that enumerate the physician and physician assistant and chiropractic healthcare workforce capacity in the District in the face of the implementation of the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act. The reports have been used by the city council and other governmental agencies to help make informed decisions about policies that need to be developed and implemented to improve access to care to physician providers in the District. Prior to joining the Department, Dr. Watson was the president & CEO of Health Concepts International, LLC (HCI), www.consulthci.com , a solution-focused health care management and strategy consulting firm in Washington, DC, that specialized in healthcare strategic planning and policy assessment, health and wellness promotion program development, healthcare inequity solutions, telehealth, and health tourism development.
Dr. Watson is a graduate of Howard University, Washington, DC (B.S.) and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Long Island, NY (D.O.). She completed her medical residency training at Georgetown University School of Medicine/Providence Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, Washington, DC, and received her MBA in Health Management and Policy, from The George Washington University School of Business and Public Management, Washington, DC.
