Dear NAHSE Members in the Washington Metropolitan Area and Nationwide: Traditionally, a new year brings new resolutions that manifest our self-reflections on past events and aspirations for what we want to achieve in the future. Our Chapter has realized that it is uniquely positioned to serve as a resource to other NAHSE Chapters for goings-on in Washington and for disseminating information from federal agencies, D.C.- based nonprofits, and research institutions. The 2016 elections have emphasized how important this role could be to the Chapter and the national organization. Therefore, I am happy to announce that beginning this year, our Chapter’s Law & Public Policy Committee has resolved to issue monthly “Law & Public Policy Newsletters” and quarterly White Papers that be used to inform the NAHSE national membership of the following items that may be relevant to improvement of minority health care outcomes or professional development:
- The upcoming events sponsored by the Chapter or the Committee;
- Advocacy opportunities across the country; and
- Proposed laws and regulations up for consideration .
We hope you find our Law & Public Policy Statements and White Papers to be informative and empowering to all NAHSE members and the populations that they serve. Most of all, we want to hear of the issues that are important to each of your Chapters, near and far, so please do not hesitate to write to our Chapter at firstname.lastname@example.org with all of your events, policy ideas, and questions.
Very truly yours,
Charlisa Watson, President
Stephanie Willis, Chair
